What makes ZEOSAFE® a good water filteration media?

When it comes to filters, the more pores within the treatment media, means more efficiency in the filtration performance. ZEOSAFE (Processed activated Zeolite) media, have many pores, therefore they do not just capture particles between grains, they also can adsorb them onto the surface of the media.

The unique advantage of ZEOSAFE® is its physical, chemical, adsorption, ionization, reduction and catalytic properties. Zeolite can adsorb ammonia, nitrate, nitrogen, hydrogen-sulfide, heavy metals, carbon-oxygen etc. It also can adsorb and/or separate the following with catalytic effect: potassium (K), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), strontium (Sr), lead (Pb), copper (Cu), silver (Ag) etc.

Due to its high pore density, ZEOSAFE has a highly effective surface area, meaning it can capture high concentrations of physical contaminants before backwashing is needed. The media can also use the process of adsorption to capture and remove certain particles. • Larger surface area: ZEOSAFE generally has 100 times more surface area than sand. This makes ZEOSAFE a better filter media with highest loading rate.
• Better filtration: Typically, the conventional filter using sand and other media beds can provide filtration upto 20 to 30 microns but ZEOSAFE typically would have a nominal filter rating of less than 3~5 micron. This property greatly reduces the turbidity in treated water.
• Lower capital requirement: ZEOSAFE filter designed for 2 to 3 times more filtration velocity in comparison to sand, hence by using ZEOSAFE, the filter size will be smaller that reduces the capex.
• Fewer backwash cycle: Due to high loading capacity ZEOSAFE requires only one half of the backwash cycle that are required by sand filter.
• Less backwash water wastage: The fewer backwash cycles generally cut the amount of backwash water by one third to one half. This means treating less backwash water and greater plant capacity.
• Long media bed life: the anticipated media bed life of ZEOSAFE® is upto 6-8 year.
• Removes heavy metal cations, certain hydrocarbons and other contaminants.
