Alfaa Industrial UV System: Buyer Questions
How do I select the correct UV system?
Provide the peak flow in LPH or cubic metres per hour, application, water analysis and UV transmittance where available. Confirm the required UV dose, inlet/outlet connections, operating pressure, electrical supply and monitoring requirements against the current model datasheet. Pipe size or lamp wattage alone is insufficient for selection.
Does the water need filtration before UV?
Turbidity, suspended particles and colour can interfere with UV transmission. Assess pretreatment from the feed-water analysis and the manufacturer’s inlet-water requirements. A UV chamber does not replace sediment filtration.
Can I use the same UV model for drinking water, a pool and wastewater?
Each duty has different water quality, flow and performance requirements. Pool systems must match the circulation and treatment design. ETP/STP UV requires adequately treated inlet water and sizing for the reuse application. Confirm the model for the intended duty.
What monitoring features should I request?
Specify whether the project needs UV intensity monitoring, lamp-status indication, operating-hour display, alarms or control-panel integration. Features differ by model and configuration; confirm what is included in the quotation.
When should the UV lamp and quartz sleeve be maintained?
Follow the specific model manual for lamp replacement and quartz-sleeve inspection and cleaning. Deposits can reduce UV transmission. Arrange maintenance with power isolated and use the prescribed service procedure; do not rely on visible lamp glow as proof of adequate UV output.
How do I order the correct replacement lamp, quartz sleeve or power supply?
Send the system model, serial number, existing part number and clear label photographs. Confirm lamp type, electrical compatibility, sleeve dimensions and seals before ordering. Parts should match the manufacturer’s specification for the system.
How do Ecostream and Ecostream Lite differ?
Alfaa positions Ecostream for drinking-water and general light industrial disinfection, with lamp-life and lamp-failure indications and optional intensity monitoring. Ecostream Lite is positioned for OEM and general water-treatment installations, including commercial RO skids. Compare the exact model datasheets and included controls before ordering.
Is a lamp-failure alarm the same as UV intensity monitoring?
No. A failure alarm indicates lamp status; a UV intensity sensor measures UV output at its location in the reactor. Alfaa lists intensity monitoring as an option for Ecostream. Specify the monitoring and alarm functions your project requires and confirm the supplied configuration.
