RAKIRO RO Antiscalant Selection: WTRD300 vs WTRD305 vs WTRD310 vs WTRD320

RAKIRO RO Antiscalant Selection: WTRD300 vs WTRD305 vs WTRD310 vs WTRD320

RAKIRO lists different RO antiscalant products for different feed-water TDS and silica profiles. The product name alone is not enough to select a chemical: use the current feed-water analysis, RO recovery, membrane configuration and scaling projection.

Quick comparison

Product Manufacturer-listed feed-water profile Selection note
WTRD305 Moderate TDS & Low Silica Consider when silica is comparatively low; verify full ion profile.
WTRD300 Moderate TDS & Moderate Silica Common starting point for moderate-TDS/moderate-silica RO feed water.
WTRD310 High TDS & Moderate Silica For higher-TDS feed profiles where silica is moderate.
WTRD320 High TDS & High Silica For more challenging high-TDS/high-silica feed profiles.

Why TDS alone is not enough

Scaling risk depends on individual dissolved ions and operating conditions. Two water sources with the same TDS can have very different calcium, alkalinity, sulphate, barium, strontium or silica concentrations. Recovery and temperature also change concentrate-side saturation.

Information required before choosing a RAKIRO antiscalant

  • Feed-water TDS / conductivity
  • Calcium hardness and total hardness
  • Alkalinity and pH
  • Silica
  • Sulphate and other scale-forming ions where relevant
  • RO feed flow and recovery
  • Membrane model and array
  • Operating temperature

How much antiscalant should be dosed?

Do not use a universal dose for every RO plant. The selected product’s dosage should be based on the water analysis and system design. For the arithmetic and dosing-pump calibration method, use the ABHIRO RO Antiscalant Dosing Calculation Guide.

RAKIRO WTRD300

RAKIRO lists WTRD300 for moderate-TDS, moderate-silica feed water and identifies it as NSF/ANSI 60 certified. See the WTRD300 product page for manufacturer-listed physical properties and current ABHIRO enquiry details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I choose an antiscalant only from TDS?

No. TDS is a broad conductivity-related indicator. Scaling risk depends on the individual ion profile, silica, pH, recovery and other operating conditions.

Is a higher dose always safer?

No. Use the product-specific recommendation for the actual RO design. Overdosing wastes chemical and does not correct an unsuitable pretreatment or recovery setting.

Can antiscalant remove existing membrane scale?

No. Antiscalant is preventive. Existing membrane deposits require diagnosis and, where appropriate, a membrane-compatible cleaning procedure.
